At Matcha Maps, we believe in being upfront about how we create content. We use a combination of artificial intelligence tools and human editorial oversight to provide you with accurate, helpful information about matcha cafes across our featured cities.

How We Use AI

We leverage AI technology to help with several aspects of content creation:

• Research assistance: Gathering information from multiple sources about matcha cafes, including menus, hours, and locations
• Content drafting: Creating initial drafts of shop descriptions, articles, and guides
• Data processing: Organizing and structuring information consistently across our directory

Our Human Review Process

How much review a page gets depends on what kind of page it is. We'd rather tell you exactly than overstate it:

• Articles and maps: A person reads and edits every one before it is published, and checks its claims against the cafes' own websites and menus.
• Shop listings: Drafted from each shop's own website and its public listing, then approved by a person before they go live. They are not individually fact-checked line by line, so if something is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
• Hours, ratings and contact details: Refreshed monthly from each shop's public listing.

What "Visited" Means

Most of our listings and maps are based on research, not visits. We only describe a shop from first-hand experience when a named person on our team, or a credited creator, actually went there, and we say so on the page. We never write as if we visited when we didn't.
